Your Turn, Grandad

I thought that I would start having a look at collection of slides mostly taken by my Grand-father.

These were usually taken while on holiday in Scotland, Wales, the Lake District and other parts of the UK.

The slides cover a period from around 1961 to 1972. Unfortunately they have suffered a bit from poor storage with the colours fading and in some case a mouldy growth. I have worked on them a certain amount but it would take many hours to fully restore them.

I’ll start off with a shot that obviously wasn’t taken by my grandad because it shows him standing in a friends garden. There is no date or notes on this one but I think that it would be from the mid-1960’s.

The second image is from Faversham in Kent where he lived. It was taken in 1972 and shows the number of cars parked in the road by commuters using the railway at the end of road. Nothing changes!

A Different Ending

More fashion from the glass plates but something quite different at the end.

As always I would like to hear your comments about the period that the fashions come from.

Todays episode of the Glass Plate Saga

I am currently working on cleaning up the scans (they will eventually appear on my website), but for now here are some more images in their scanned state.

The first has some oast houses in it so I would think that it is Kent but I don’t know where.

Next we have a doorway, do you recognise it?
