Where are we now? It’s getting harder!

These are more images from my recent acquisitions but these are cellulose negatives. Obviously later, I believe that they were probably taken in Germany towards the end of WWII.
What do you think?

There are still a few more to identify and I would really like some dates for the fashions.

A Different Ending

More fashion from the glass plates but something quite different at the end.

As always I would like to hear your comments about the period that the fashions come from.

It’s Where Are You Now Time again!

Starting off with another doorway.

Looking closely at the signs above the door I have determined the following:

GVIHNS DE HATFELD, DENORTVVS INFANS

JOHES,DeLANCASTRIE, Vo JOHN OF GAVNT

THOS. DeGLOVCESTRIE, C. ESSEXIE

DWB-21

The next has a young lady posing by a statue.

DWB-50

Staying with the statues, we have a fine young gentleman posing in front.

DWB-84

A procession through the streets, somewhere. Close examination of the name plate gives the road as Market Street.

DWB-127

Have you been to this peaceful bay?

DWB-154

And finally this time, a small label on the plate tells me that this is Bude in Cornwall. Do you agree?

DWB-243

Until next time, thank you for help and comments, keep them coming!

Todays episode of the Glass Plate Saga

I am currently working on cleaning up the scans (they will eventually appear on my website), but for now here are some more images in their scanned state.

The first has some oast houses in it so I would think that it is Kent but I don’t know where.

DWB-289

Next we have a doorway, do you recognise it?

DWB-301

This one has a military look.

DWB-286

Now a little more fashion for you.

Finally, for today, it looks like someone is preparing for the Olympics, but which year?

Glass Plates continued

Let’s start off by giving the chaps a turn.

Anyone recognise the cap badge on these two?

DWB-

DWB--8

Another uniform but the Girl Guides, I think!

DWB-60

Must have been a warmer summer than we are having!

OK, that’s it for today.

Let’s have your thoughts on when these images were taken.

More fashion tomorrow.

First Result

The first result in my quest for information. I am reliably informed (thanks Kirstin) that the castle shown in image DWB-268

DWB-268

is Bodiam Castle, East Sussex.

Where were these glass plates exposed?

Today I have some more examples from the collection of glass plates I was given recently.

Does anyone recognise the locations?

I look forward to your comments.

I have finished the initial scan of the glass plates, all 314 of them.

One of the plates has a label containing the date 17-09-1914, so some of them may be older than I first thought.

I’ll post some more soon, showing some of the fashions and hairstyles again,
